2008 and 2009 Repertoire

The 2008 repertoire included a world-premiere of a twelve person opera by 20th century composer Bruno Rigacci, scenes from La bohème, an evening of Mozart opera scenes,  an evening of Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini bel canto scenes, a sacred music concert,  and an evening of international songs. In addition, there were two out of town concerts in the nearby towns of  Lago di Garda, and Cologne, and three outdoor concerts in Chiari: the repertoire for these out of town and outdoor concerts was chosen from repertoire that was currently being studied or performed.  These concerts also provided opportunities for singers to try out repertoire that they will be performing in other venues after leaving Chiari.

The 2009 repertoire will be decided once we have heard this year's applicants. IIVA likes to plan its repertoire around the students, in order to cast roles appropriately. The general plan for 2009 repertoire includes Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, some baroque repertoire, and some sacred music. Most of the music that is presented on concerts is Italian repertoire, although some French and German repertoire is also programmed.
